Should I wash my hair before dying it?
If you are wondering whether you need to clear up your hair before coloring it. A host of people think that the dirtier their hair, the prettier the color is because many years ago, the harsh chemicals included in the dye products were said to harm to our scalps. The fact is…that you should wash your hair before dying. However, I believe that many of you do not really know how to wash your hair before the color service correctly, but do not worry because I am going to share with you right now.
How to wash hair in the right way?
There are several things you need to take note:
– Before going to a hair salon for color service, make sure that you washed your hair from 12 to 24 hours in advance. If you dye your hair by yourself, so be sure that shampoo your hair from 12 to 24 hours before using Semi-Permanent or Demi-Permanent products; wash 24 hours before using Permanent products. This will allow you both have clear hair and keep the natural oils in your hair remain in order to avoid itching or irritating. It is necessary to check the instructions of manufacturers for sure.
Moreover, natural oils play an important role in protecting your scalp from being hurt. Therefore, if the time you wash your hair is near to the time you color it, it is not long enough for the oils to recreate.
– Remember not to aggressively scratch your scalp.
– Washing hair after taking up any sports is really essential. If you do not, the excessive oils which produced after the working-out period will make the color slowly process and chemicals can also not color your hair well.
– It will be better if you use your shampoo along with some oils such as coconut oil or olive oil when you wash the hair. The oils can help to make your hair shinier, softer and healthier. However, remember to avoid using products which include heavy oils because heavy oils may make the color show less effectively. Besides, they may also make your highlights become patchy all over the head.
Some things you should know
I believe that now you guys have already known the answer to the question ”Should I shampoo my hair before dying it?” there are a lot of questions you can have before your own color service. If this is the first time you dye your hair, do not worry because I guess you can find some answers here.
Cut hair before coloring
Many hair professors believe that cutting your hair before the color service can do you a favor in seeing the full effect of color. Besides, you may save an amount of money when cutting hair before deciding to apply color to it because the longer your hair is, the more color products you must use to dye hair.
Do not wash your hair after the dying process
It is recommended that after coloring your hair, you need to wait for about 1 to 2 days before shampooing hair. The color needs a time which is long enough to stay in the hair. If you need to wash the hair, just use a conditioner.
Professors say that washing the hair every 2 days can help to keep the color stay in your hair longer. However, if you need to wash hair every day, please choose safe products which are mild and gentle.
Conditioning hair after dying?
You should use the in-box conditioner coming with the hair color. It is the most ideal conditioning treatment which is specialized for use with the color box. The product can not only give you a softer and shiner look but it also helps to take care of your hair. However, if you go to a salon for your color service, just ask your hairstylist what products you should buy to care for your hair. So, now you have already known about should or should not you condition your hair after dying it, right?
The time to re-color
It depends on which one you used: Demi-Permanent or Permanent hair color. To Demi-Permanent hair color, it can last about 28 times of shampooing, equivalent to 4 weeks if you wash your car every day. Permanent one can last longer. It will not fade away until your hair grows out, equivalently 4 to 6 weeks afterward. In addition, to avoid any problems with your recoloring, just be careful when applying the color to the roots of your hair, and remember to follow the instruction to know how to dye hair correctly.
Shampooing
As I mentioned above, it is pretty essential to wash out your hair from 1 to 2 days before getting the coloring process. However, there is another thing you need to notice that is about the shampoo products. Try to avoid using dry shampoos because this kind of products can prevent the color you dye from penetrating well into your hair. The result is that you will not get the hair which is as beautiful as you expected.
About styling products
It is said that styling products do not matter to your color service if you do not apply them so much to your hair because stuff such as hair spray or non-oily products can be brushed out of your hair easily before coloring service.
Dry hair
Let your hair dry before dying. It is better if you can come to your favorite salon early and ask the hair stylist to make your hair dried. You can also use the hair dryer at your home to dry out the hair.
That is everything I want to share with you guys about the color service. ”Should I wash my hair before dying it?”, ”What should I do to take care of my hair?”. I hope that you all will find the answer in this post. Finally, I wish you to have the most beautiful hair as you always desire. Thanks for reading!
